Meet Swati - ranbindrasangeet teacher

Swati Sharma, an engineer by profession, is a passionate singer and musician residing in Downtingtown, PA, She learnt Indian Classical music in her early formative years from Shri Subodh Ghosh (Sangeet Visharad from Rabindra Bharati University) and more recently from noted vocalist and performer Dr. Joita Bose Mandal (Ph.D in Indian Classical music from Allahabad University). Swati started performing at an early age at school functions and community celebrations, competitions and later in college and regional festivals winning many awards and accolades. She was active in the Indian community and a well-known local music artist in the Kansas City area where she lived for 17 years. She performed in radio programs and various community events as a featured artist. She sings in various genres including semi-classical, ghazals, bhajans, Hindi film songs, Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti, Ragpradhan, Shyamasangeet, and Begali folk although Rabindrasangeet is her specialty and favorite genre. She currently teaches music to a small group of students (kids and adults) and performs at local events in the Downtingtown area.
